Giovanni Cano Has A Night To Remember
One of our current residents at the Ronald McDonald House, Giovanni Cano, had a night to remember on New Year’s Eve. He got to sit courtside and watch his idol, Steven Gray play against Oklahoma and watch the exciting moment when Oklahoma's Tiny Gallon shattered the backboard almost nine years to the day after Casey Calvary did it in 2000. Giovanni also got to meet many former Gonzaga players who gave him a signed basketball.
Eleven year old Giovanni has moved from Libby, Montana to the Ronald McDonald House while he is being treated for cancer. He was diagnosed in August and doctors say that Giovanni is responding very well to treatment despite some predictable difficulties. “It’s kinda like a roller coaster,” Giovanni says. “There’s ups and downs. Some chemo, you just go through it. And some, it makes you feel terrible, you know? Vomiting. Your stomach doesn’t feel good.”
The support of Gonzaga and Coach Mark Few help the Ronald McDonald House provide much needed support to families like Giovanni’s who need to be near their children receiving long term treatment in area hospitals.
We also need YOUR support. Please consider making a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Spokane using the donation link on this webpage. Thank you for your support!
